Governor Barbour Presents FY 2011 Executive Budget Recommendation
November 16, 2009 - Governor Haley Barbour today proposed a 12 percent budget reduction for most state agencies and called for the merger of some state agencies, universities and school districts in his Executive Budget Recommendation for Fiscal Year 2011.

Mississippi Department of Health Flu Update
November 13, 2009 - The Mississippi State Department of Health continues to monitor and investigate human cases of a new type of influenza, H1N1 swine influenza (also known as "novel H1N1 influenza") now present in Mississippi. 1,250 Mississippi cases of H1N1 swine flu have been identified since May 15.

MDA Joins Energy Training Network
November 4, 2009 - The Mississippi Development Authority’s (MDA’s) Energy Division is one of several partners in the creation of a Southern Solar Energy Training Network in the Southeast. The network is part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) efforts to invest in solar workforce development and is being created through the University of Central Florida’s (UCF’S) Florida Solar Energy Center.

Commissioner Spell Seeking Aid for Farmers
November 3, 2009 - Mississippi farmers are experiencing devastating crop losses due to the record rainfalls during September and October causing crop yields and quality to be severely affected. Current crop conditions show very poor quality and yield for farms which, in some cases, leave farmers only very low discounted prices or total crop loss.
