AG Re-Issues Consumer Alert-Warns of IRS Email Scams
March 8, 2010 - Attorney General Jim Hood today re-issued a Consumer Alert warning Mississippi taxpayers of an email scam whereby the perpetrator uses the Internal Revenue Service’s ("IRS") name as means to obtain personal and/or financial information. The emails claim to be from the IRS and may come in several versions. The Attorney General and the IRS remind taxpayers that the IRS does not send emails to taxpayers to advise them of refunds or to request financial information.

Census of Hurricane-Hit Areas on Gulf Coast Begins
March 2, 2010 - Census takers have begun hand delivering 2010 Census questionnaires in places in Mississippi and Louisiana hit hard by hurricanes since 2005 in an effort to count everyone on the Gulf Coast for the once-in-a-decade population count.
